What SciKeep is

SciKeep is a set of browser-based analysis tools for life scientists. Calculations run on your own device. The analysis tools are free to use; the Lab plan adds shared infrastructure for a research group.

These terms apply to anyone using the site, with or without an account.

Research use only

SciKeep is intended for basic and preclinical research. It is not a medical device, is not registered or cleared by any regulator as one, and must not be used for clinical diagnosis, patient management, or treatment decisions.

Do not enter Protected Health Information or patient-identifiable records into SciKeep.

Accuracy, and its limits

Every tool publishes what has actually been checked about it. The Validation page grades each one — verified against published reference values, standard method, screening aid, or not yet benchmarked — and says so even where the answer is unflattering.

Computational predictions are predictions. Guide RNA designs are ranked by sequence heuristics and are not a genome-wide off-target search; validate with CRISPOR, CHOPCHOP or empirical assays such as GUIDE-seq before ordering or publishing. Primer designs are not a genome specificity check. Structural models retrieved from AlphaFold are predictions, not measurements.

You are responsible for checking any number before it informs an experiment, an order, or a publication.

Compliance records

The electronic lab notebook produces hash-chained, tamper-evident records with electronic signatures. That is designed to support 21 CFR Part 11 workflows.

SciKeep is not itself a validated Part 11 system and cannot be: Part 11 compliance is a property of a validated installation together with the procedures around it, and is established by the regulated organisation. Do not represent SciKeep as a compliance certification.

Your data

Microscopy images, blot scans, raw measurements and canvas data are processed in your browser and are never uploaded. This is enforced rather than promised: the server rejects any record payload over 64 KB, which no image fits through.

Without an account, everything is stored in your browser only. Clearing site data — or a browser evicting it, which Safari does after seven days without a visit — deletes it permanently and we cannot recover it. Export anything that matters.

With an account, text records (notebook entries, inventories) are stored in your private account and protected by row-level access rules. See the Privacy Policy for what is collected.

Accounts and payment

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.

Paid plans renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period. Analysis tools remain free regardless of subscription status, and cancelling never deletes your saved data.

Liability

SciKeep is provided without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that results are error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for experimental outcomes, reagent or animal costs, publication consequences, or lost data arising from use of these tools. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid in the preceding twelve months.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be reflected in the version date at the top of this page, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
