Antibody Validation Tracker
Antibody inventory with validated application matrix (WB, IHC, IF, Flow), RRID lookup, lot numbers and dilution logs.
How it works
An inventory recording each antibody’s target, host species, clonality, catalogue and lot number, RRID, and the applications it has been validated for in your hands. Validated application is tracked separately from vendor claims, because an antibody working in Western blot does not imply it works in immunofluorescence.
Frequently asked questions
What is an RRID and why should I record it?
A Research Resource Identifier is a unique, persistent identifier for a specific antibody, cell line or reagent. Catalogue numbers change and vendors merge, but an RRID such as AB_2223172 (β-Actin 13E5, Cell Signaling Technology #4970) always resolves to the same reagent. Journals increasingly require RRIDs in methods sections because they let a reader identify precisely which antibody was used, which catalogue numbers alone often fail to do.
How do I validate an antibody?
Validate for the specific application you will use it in. The strongest evidence is signal loss in a knockout or knockdown sample. Failing that, check that the band appears at the expected molecular weight, that signal scales with target expression across conditions, that no-primary and isotype controls are clean, and ideally that a second antibody raised against a different epitope gives the same result.
